Volunteers in the Science Resource Centre

Since 2015 the Science Resource Centre (SRC) is welcoming volunteers to support the teachers. As the Science Resource Centre was closed during the COVID-19 pandemic the sixth volunteer is currently (academeic year 2023/2024) working at the centre. Volunteers from all over the world are welcome but the SRC has strong bounds with the German Volunteering Programme weltwärts and VIA e.V. and the Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteer Programme.
Mr. Bernard Agbenyezi and Mr. Abeku Adams are hosting the volunteers at the SRC and they are responsible for scheduling their daily activities. The responsibilities of the volunteers are widespread; they assist the staff in planning and running the laboratory classes and practical activities. Further duties include setting up the experiments, assisting with the provision of laboratory equipment and chemicals (if available), helping students in conducting experiments in the lab, and tidying up after the course. In addition, volunteers are encouraged to demonstrate certain experimental methods and support students to develop their problem solving skills by relating their laboratory observations to theory, previously learned in their base school. Volunteers are also responsible for student safety in the laboratory.
